The City of Oak Ridge Youth Advisory Board recently visited with Governor Bill Lee, Lt. Governor Randy McNally, Representative John Ragan, and Representative Kent Calfee in Nashville. Students participated in a mock Senate session and were invited to tour several State facilities including the newly opened Tennessee State Museum, the Parthenon, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. This trip is an annual opportunity for board members to meet with state representatives, discuss important issues that students are facing, and to consider future internship and career opportunities.
The City YAB is currently accepting applications for the 2019-2020 Term of Office commencing on August 1st, 2019. Participation on the City of Oak Ridge YAB requires that students are able to attend bi-monthly meetings on Wednesday afternoons at 2:00pm during the school year. Application requirements also include being an Oak Ridge resident and a student that is entering 8th-12th grade. All interested students are encouraged to fill out the online application at https://form.jotform.com/90736107990159. A limited number of paper copies of the application are available in the Guidance Offices at JMS and RMS, the Student Affairs Office at ORHS, or at the Front Desk of the Civic Center. .
