Art Classes

The Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department is offering a new “Graphic Novel” art class for students in grades 5-9, taught by Melissa Bishop. The classes will be held at the Oak Ridge Civic Center on Thursday afternoons from 3:30pm-4:30pm beginning on February 28, 2019. The class will take a spring break to coincide with the Oak Ridge School schedule and the class will end before summer break begins.

Students will learn figure, object, and landscape drawing, composition, and storytelling techniques. At the end of the 12 week class, participants will be able to take home their mini-graphic novel.

Participants may register for the class at the Civic Center recreation building Monday through Saturday 8 am to 10 pm or by calling 865-425-3450. The fee for the class is $15 per class or $150 for the full 12 week session ($30 discount). A credit card may be used to pay for the 12 week session in full over the phone or in person.
