Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

The City of Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department presented the annual Community Christmas Tree lighting ceremony on December 1st in A.K. Bissell Park.

The tree, a Norway Spruce, was presented by the Woman’s Club to the City and has become part of a growing community tradition.

The event will kick off with a countdown and tree lighting near the Secret City Commemorative Walk on the east side of the Oak Ridge Public Library parking area, at the corner of Oak Ridge Turnpike and South Illinois Avenue.

Following the tree lighting, participants proceeded to the outdoor A.K. Bissell Park Pavilion, located behind the Oak Ridge Recreation Center, for the Recreation and Parks Advisory Board awards ceremony. There was also seasonal music and light refreshments provided by Y-12 Federal Credit Union and the Recreation and Parks Advisory Board.
